Business of Art 2011: The Siskiyou Arts Council

The Business of Art is a series of classes and workshops offered Spring 2011, open to artists in all mediums and high school students. Through this program, artists will improve their presentations, connect with the larger art world, and be equipped with the tools needed to become more successful in their chosen area.

Presented in partnership with JEDI – the Jefferson Economic Development Institute and the Northeastern Small Business Development Center at Shasta College, funded in part by California Arts Council’s Creating Public Value program.

Winners of Grant Applications!

WIBN Businesswoman Award Program:

Three winners were announced at the April 6th Membership Meeting.  Everyone who submitted an application received a lovely green plant and a card from chairwoman Matilde de Franchis-Unruh.  Matilde also acknowledged the meticulous assistance of Connie Marmet, who gave an overview of the program and helped announce the winners:

  • Winner of the $300 Marketing Grant:
  1. Atara Melo of A Melo Place.
Because A Melo Place is a hands-on location for arts, crafts and workshops, Atara is looking forward to getting definitive brochures out to many locations in town.
  • 2 Winners of Mt. Shasta Chamber of Commerce Memberships:

  1. Kelly Samuelson of KLS Photography.
Because the photography business is largely word of mouth, Kelly is hopeful that chamber membership will expand her network.
  2. Sandy Patterson of Alternative Health Solutions.
Sandy is looking forward to using her chamber membership for network marketing and advertising her products.

Chamber memberships were presented by chamber Executive Director Marie-Josée Wells,  chamber Board Member Heather Weldon (Premier West Bank) and WIBN chairwoman Matilde de Franchis-Unruh and all winners had their photos taken by Eve Thompson of the Mt. Shasta Herald.

  • PLEASE NOTE:

All WIBN Members are also asked to complete an evaluation form – whether you submitted an application or not.  Your feedback will help us prepare for the next round of awards and grants.  Please CLICK HERE to download a pdf file of this form.  Complete the form ASAP, and mail it to WIBN, PO Box 433, Mount Shasta, CA 96067.
